Description:
Symbol of happiness and joy, young married Greek couples used to wear plated crowns
Greeks and Romans used it mainly as a disinfecting and conserving perfume which they will diffuse in the rest of Europe.
Cultivation:
Oregano originates from the Mediterranean regions, but now it is cultivated in many countries.
In France, it is harvested in June and in August.
Favourite recipes:
The best associations for oregano are mozzarella, tomatoes, eggs, white wine, crème and garlic.
Utilisations:
We find oregano in Italian cuisine, as everybody known on Neapolitan pizzas, in pate’.
And tomato soup.
Some other times oregano is used to flavour beer.
