Description:
Garlic-chives also called Chinese chives, originates from Mongolia, Japan and from the Philippines.
It is different from the ordinary chives for its flat leaves and its garlic taste.
Cultivation:
It is mainly cultivated in Japan and China.
When the leaves have reached 8 to 10 cm in height, they are covered by a thatched covering for 3 to 4 weeks in order to whiten them, then they are harvested
Uses:
Garlic-chives has a more pronounced flavour than the chives cultivated in the West .
Traditionally associated with Asian cuisine, its flavour reminds us of garlic, but sweeter
Whole, it decorates dishes.
Chopped, it flavours soups, salads and eggs.
The buds are considered a delicacy in China and are enjoyed raw and fried.
