Description:
Marco Polo was the first, who after his journey to Asia, praised the culinary and medicinal virtues of chives in Europe.
In the Middle Ages, with the name “appetite” referring to its appetising qualities.
It was no known and cultivated in our gardens until after the XVI century.
Cultivation:
Chives are grown in the whole of Europe as well as in Canada and in the USA.
It is harvested from June to August.
Favourite recipes:
It blends well with raw or cooked vegetables, with fish, with meats and eggs.
Chives are essential for tartar.
Uses:
Chives are used raw, finely chopped or in bunches.
